T1 is a high-speed digital line that provide data communication speeds of 1.544 megabits per second. A T1 line actually consists of 24 individual channels, each of which supports 64Kbits per second. Each 64Kbit/second channel can be configured to carry voice or data traffic.
WWISP's (PPP) DS3 follows the same provisioning as the PPP T1 circuit. The major difference between the services being that the DS3 service is roughly 28 times faster than a T1 and is always delivered over Fiber Optic Cable. DS3 is a dedicated, private line service designed for point-to-point communications, but is available on a frame circuit as well.
